We are looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer to help a financial services organization build and optimize their hybrid cloud infrastructure.

This role is a 6+ month contract that is hybrid, 2-3 days onsite, in Boston MA.

Job Overview: As a Cloud Engineer with a focus on AWS Outposts, you will be responsible for designing, deploying, and optimizing AWS Outposts infrastructure to ensure seamless integration with our existing cloud and on-premises environments. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including DevOps, Network Engineering, and Security, to ensure that our AWS Outposts deployments meet business objectives, are scalable, secure, and perform optimally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design & Deployment:
    • Architect and implement AWS Outposts infrastructure to extend AWS services to on-premises environments.
    • Develop and maintain detailed architectural blueprints, diagrams, and documentation for AWS Outposts deployments.
    • Configure and deploy network connectivity between AWS Outposts and existing on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Optimization & Maintenance:
    • Monitor and optimize the performance of AWS Outposts, ensuring high availability, scalability, and cost efficiency.
    • Implement automation scripts and tools for the effective management of AWS Outposts resources.
    • Perform regular updates, patches, and maintenance of the AWS Outposts infrastructure.
  • Security & Compliance:
    • Ensure AWS Outposts deployments adhere to company security policies and compliance requirements.
    • Collaborate with the Security team to implement best practices for data protection, access management, and threat mitigation.
    • Conduct security audits and assessments to identify vulnerabilities and improve the security posture of AWS Outposts.
  • Support & Troubleshooting:
    • Provide Level 2/3 support for AWS Outposts, addressing any issues or incidents that arise.
    • Collaborate with AWS support to resolve complex technical challenges.
    • Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans specific to AWS Outposts.
  • Collaboration & Communication:
    • Work closely with DevOps, IT, and application teams to ensure seamless integration of AWS Outposts with existing workflows.
    • Provide technical guidance and training to team members and stakeholders on AWS Outposts best practices.
    • Communicate project status, risks, and issues to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Skills:
    • 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering with a focus on AWS services.
    • Proven experience in designing, deploying, and managing AWS Outposts or similar hybrid cloud solutions.
    • Strong understanding of networking concepts, including VPNs, Direct Connect, and hybrid cloud networking.
    • Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
    • Expertise in AWS services such as EC2, VPC, S3, IAM, and CloudWatch.
    • Proficient in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
    • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
