Job Description:

A industry leading, AI Startup are looking for a talented and experienced Mid-Level Public Cloud Administrator to join their dynamic team based in Palo Alto, CA. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining their public cloud infrastructure on AWS, ensuring the reliability, security, and scalability of their cloud-based systems while effectively controlling usage and costs. You will collaborate closely with the engineering, operations, and security teams to design, deploy, and optimize cloud solutions that meet their business needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain AWS infrastructure, including EC2 instances, S3 buckets, VPCs, IAM roles, and more.
  • Apply the AWS Well-Architected Framework best practices.
  • Monitor the health, performance, and security of cloud resources using industry-standard tools.
  • Optimize cloud infrastructure usage with a focus on minimizing costs.
  • Implement and maintain security best practices, including IAM policies, security groups, encryption, and compliance controls.
  • Design and implement scalable, fault-tolerant cloud infrastructure to support our applications and services.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to AWS and Azure services, network connectivity, performance, and availability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and implement changes to cloud infrastructure.
  • Stay up-to-date with cloud engineering best practices, new features, and emerging technologies to identify optimization opportunities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience managing AWS infrastructure in a large-scale production environment.
  • Proven track record of troubleshooting production issues and minimizing downtime.
  • Experience configuring networking and DNS resources such as VPCs, load balancers, and Route 53.
  • Familiarity with compliance standards like FedRAMP and SOC 2 Type 2, and experience working with audit teams.
  • AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer) are preferred.
  • Experience with AWS GovCloud and an understanding of its differences from the commercial version.
  • Background in working with government entities, preferably in defense.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Experience building and managing Kubernetes clusters using EKS or other tools is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • A proactive attitude and a willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to changing requirements.
